Gold Coast Ghana

Ghana was called Gold Coast by Europeans which the first were Portuguese due to the amount of Gold they saw the kings wearing when they first arrive. The Portuguese navigator  arrived in Ghana during 15th Century and started trading with the locals during the same century. Later on the Elmina Castle was built. The Dutch Gold Coast, the Swede Gold Coast, The Danish Gold Coast, The Germans Coast then finally the British Coast all succeded on another. It was finally on the 6th March 1957, that the Gold Coast declared independance and change it’s name to Ghana
